Victoria Woodhull
(1838-1927) Women's Suffragist

Woodhull was the first female candidate for president of the United States. She ran against Ulysses S. Grant in 1872 as the nominee of the Equal Rights Party. Woodhull was a staunch advocate for of social reforms and equality for women, including the right to vote. Her views on marriage were seen by some as too radical and led to rivalries within the suffrage movement.
