Keith Maynard is a poet, author, and storyteller. His specialization in railroad topics is a natural extension of his work as a 28-year-veteran locomotive engineer for CSX Transportation. Originally from Huntington, WV, he attended Marshall University, majoring in Journalism. Keith has also been employed by a county sheriff's department, and has worked as a paramedic and a volunteer fireman. He says he comes by railroading as a result of genetics; he's a third generation railroader on his mother's side, and a fourth generation on his father's side. "Nature and breeding were against me," he states. An avid history buff and chronicler of what he calls "real people," Keith collects stories of the "modern railroader."He intermixes these with tales of the golden age of railroading, giving an insider's view into what life is really like on the "steel highway." Keith currently resides in a top-secret compound in northern Mason County, WV, where his wife Sara and two children occasionally release him to run trains and tell stories.
