Denise Giardina

Denise Giardina grew up in a coal camp in McDowell County. She is the author of Storming Heaven, The Unquiet Earth, Good King Harry, and Saints and Villains, which won the Boston Book Review Prize and was a semifinalist for the International Dublin Literary Award. The Unquiet Earth won the W.D. Weatherford Award and the Lillian Smith Award. Her latest title, Emily's Ghost: A Novel of the Brontë Sisters, is Giardina's most exciting novel to date, as her sly wit and masterful storytelling make for a fiery, lyrical, irresistible chronicle of the Brontë sisters' ascent to literary immortality in the face of tragedy. Giardina lives in Charleston, teaches at West Virginia State University and is an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church.
