Charles T. Ledbetter, Ph.D.

Ledbetter, Professor Emeritus of Education, West Virginia State University, recently received the WV Division of Culture and History's "Living the Dream Award" for his two-volume history, Alliance Against the Odds: The Manual Training High School Story. Born in Muskogee, Okla., Ledbetter did his undergraduate work in sociology at Lincoln University in Missouri. His graduate work at the master's level was in public administration at Golden Gate University in San Francisco and in education at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He earned his Ph.D. in Education from Kent State University.

During his 28 years at West Virginia State University, he held the positions of Vice President for Student Affairs, Executive Assistant to the President and Dean of the Professional Studies Division.

Ledbetter retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after a distinguished 20-year career. He lives in Nitro with his wife, Eva, a retired teacher from Cross Lanes Elementary School.
