There isn't an author alive who hasn't been asked, "Did you always know you wanted to be a writer?" In this session, children's book author Frances O'Roark Dowell will discuss her round-about path to becoming a writer, the pitfalls of falling in love with poetry, and why taking a job as a hotel maid was the best career move she ever made. She'll talk abut the appeal of children's literature to adult writers (and readers), and how she continues to tap into her internal (and seemingly eternal) 11-year-old self.
